If what you want is an assured audience before you bother to write anything, then I say, forget General Leo. Write a Harry Potter lemon instead, paying as little attention to story, spelling and grammar as you can manage. Those get much larger numbers of readers than anything else I can think of.
However, if you want to tell a good story, pick a subject that interests you, and just write it. You will do a much better job that way, and have a lot more fun writing it, besides.
It's like that line from the movie "Field of Dreams:"
"If you build it, they will come."
A crackling good story, skillfully written, will find its own appreciative audience over time, even if it isn't large. Huge numbers of readers aren't as important as creating something that you can point to with pride.
That's my opinion, anyway.

Not a bad idea, Maggie, but still, if you want a huge fan list, it's ALL about the Dragon Ball Z self-insertion fics in which you are the lost saiyen who is even more powerful than Goku or Gohan or anyone. This works especially well if you're female, since you can have yourself go with anyone of your choice, including the Supreme Kai fellow.
And yes, I'm not kidding. Anime-ker actually KNOWS someone who has written this very story. It is bad. And she has over 200 positive reviews for it.

Oooh! A Leo fanfic! You write it, I'll read it! I wouldn't have that fanfic fear of reading it because I don't have any Leo fanfic ideas planned. I want to see other people's take on his character. I have a fic that involves Leo but it really centers more on Celes. It's not the same.
Just one request, though. PLease please please please call him General Leo Cristophe or General Cristophe. That IS his official last name. And do the same with Celes. General Chere is the proper way of addressing her rank/status.
Have fun writing!

I love fics on the characters that have patchy history - it lets the author be much more creative.
Reading depends on the author. Someone could do a Fic on Clyde Arrowny, with a good plot in mind... and even though Shadow is the man, if the writing is subpar, it could be a horror to read.
Whereas a good author could make anything good. Even, dare I say...A Sailor Moon fic! :P
Write, Crono! For the love of god, write!

Hey, you dissing Sailor Moon? One of the most well-written fics I've ever read is a Sailor Moon fic...and the central character is a new senshi (warning bell number one) who is just as powerful as Sailor Moon (warning bell number two) and is just a wonderful lovable person (BEEP! BEEP! MARY SUE alert!!)...but it comes together incredibly, it's not as Mary Sueish as it first appeared, and although the new character didn't do it for me, everything else about the fic was INCREDIBLE.
So yes, a good author can pull anything off.
If you like Leo, write Leo. Who cares what the rest of the world thinks? I'm getting ideas for a Fire Emblem 4 fic. And FE4 was played by maybe ten people outside of Japan, so there's no audience for it. But I'm not letting that stop me. I say go for it!
currently playing: Etrian Odyssey. Fuck you, Claret Hollows. Fuck you in the ear.

Thanks every one for the encouragement, I will write, the fic, but inorder to make sure I do it justice I will replay through FF6 inorder to pick up on all his mannerisms and to not accidently contridict anything. That said it will take atleast a month or two I would think, considering how long I was planning to make it, and it will take atleast two days to replay through FF6 but knowing me ill go on a level whoring binge and it will take even longer. LOL. Any way I will keep you informed on the progress, and submit it to icy when im done for addition to the website. Thanks again to every one.

Two days! Yikes! Do you plan on sleeping? ^_^
Well anyway, try the Lete River trick to level up. Save time. And remember to get Celes leveled way up before you go to the Floating Continent, because the characters she reenlists in the WOR will pick up her level.

Just download a script of the game...Then you have it for the whole fic and you don't need to remember everything, right? At least that's how I keep my characters in character or something.
